Letter: Know signs of ovarian cancer

By Diane O’Connor, Vancouver
Published: September 12, 2023, 6:00am

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. One in 78 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which is the deadliest of the gynecologic cancers.

Be aware of symptoms: bloating, frequent or urgent urination, feeling full quickly, and abdominal/pelvic pain. Gynecologic oncologists are the specialists who treat ovarian cancer.

Listen to your body and check out any new or unusual symptoms. Our local Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and Southwest Washington offers information and resources: www.ovariancancerosw.org.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
