WASHOUGAL — Clark County Newcomers Club members gathered at Orchard Hills Golf Club in Washougal on Sept. 5 for their first Horsey Race. Five “horses” and one “llama” were the stars of the event.

Club members cheered on the six riders in each of the four races. First to cross the finish line in race number one was Gina Nelson on her horse Bunko Babe. Race two winner was Donna Maple, riding Miss Sunshine, who sprinted to victory from the back of the pack. Judith Cochran and her energetic llama, Middle East Expert, won the third race. And Rodger Lyngholm rode to victory aboard Silver Fox in the fourth. A tasty buffet was enjoyed at the conclusion of the races.
