Prep highlights: River’s Noah Larson wins medalist honors with 4-under 68 at Heron Lakes

Columbia River’s Noah Larson dominated a field of 2A Greater St. Helens League golfers with a 4-under-par 68 Monday at Heron Lakes Greenback Course to win medalist honors in the 18-hole event.

Larson made birdie on the last two holes to give him six on the day. He was 2-under on both the front and back nine.

Columbia River was the top team with a 266 total.

Washougal was second at 281 led by Mason Acker’s 73 — which was second behind Larson — and Keagan Payne’s 76 (fourth).

Third overall was Keaton Stansberry of Woodland with a 75, and Ridgefield’s Brody Newcombe was fifth with a 78.

Stars of the day

  • Tommy James, Camas boys tennis, won a straight-set battle at No. 1 singles against Skyview No. 1 Aiden Bucerzan 6-4, 6-3 as the Papermakers won the 4A GSHL match 5-1.
  • Ixiz Chu, Columbia River boys tennis, came back from a set down at No. 2 singles to beat Michel Diaz of Fort Vancouver 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the Rapids’ 6-0 team win.
  • Bailey España, La Center volleyball, had a solid all-round match with nine assists, seven digs, five aces, and 16 service points in the Wildcats’ 3-0 non-league win over Mark Morris.
