Letter: Help needed for homeless health

Published: September 23, 2023, 6:00am

The story on how hard it is to be homeless with medical issues made me so mad (“For people in Clark County experiencing homelessness, health care can be out of reach,” The Columbian, Sept. 16).

The lady in the story lives where we lived last year, at the pods, and those are not comfortable. This lady needs in a place of her own. She starts her radiation treatments, all you want is go home take a shower or bath and lay down in your comfortable bed. Those beds are not comfortable. She would have to walk to the YMCA to take a shower, then walk back to the pod, after a long day of treatment. All you want to do is relax at home.

If she has to use the bathroom, she has use the outhouse. Some of the treatments make you sick. Why can’t she move into the place on Fourth Plain, so she can relax in her own home and be comfortable. What if this happened to be your mom, your sister, your grandmother, friend, etc? You would fight for her to get in a place that is more stable. Let’s get her into place. This not right at all.
