Tyler Flanagan’s supplied the offense for Central Washington. Josiah Cochran’s interception then sealed the win.

Two Southwest Washington players were key to Central Washington’s 17-7 win over Western Oregon on Saturday in Monmouth, Ore., in a clash of the Northwest’s only NCAA Division-II teams.

Flanagan, a redshirt sophomore from Woodland, scored two touchdowns. His 8-yard run put the Wildcats ahead 6-0 with 6:15 left in the first half. He followed that up with a 21-yard touchdown catch that put Central Washington ahead 17-7 early in the fourth quarter.

Western Oregon constructed a long drive late in the game. But Cochran, a junior defensive lineman from Skyview, snagged a game-sealing interception that he returned 31-yards.

Cochran’s former Skyview teammate Xavier Owens played a key role in Western Oregon’s defensive backfield, collecting five tackles. Evergreen grad Jaylen Fite returned two kickoffs and two punts for the Wolves.
