Administrators at Seton Catholic and Stevenson high schools have agreed to a mutual resolution regarding a player-coach sideline incident at last week’s varsity football game between the two schools.

An independent committee of District IV 1A athletic directors reviewed video footage of the incident from last Friday’s game, resulting in a 59-0 victory by Seton. That video appears to show Seton assistant coach Rick Devereux knocking down a Stevenson player after the player made contact with the coach.

Wednesday, that committee made source-of-action recommendations for both schools. When reached by The Columbian, officials from both schools declined to go into specifics of those recommendations, but each have taken “strong, appropriate actions,” according to a joint statement by both schools’ administrations.

In that joint statement to The Columbian, Seton and Stevenson “agree this situation has been resolved in a positive way and look forward to our continued joint efforts focused on sportsmanship and community with all of our athletes.”

On Friday, Seton (4-0 overall) travels to Trico-rival Columbia-White Salmon and Stevenson (3-1) hosts 2B Kalama.
