Truck hangs over edge of Kelso overpass Tuesday on Interstate 5

KELSO — A box truck hit a guardrail on Southbound Interstate 5 on Tuesday afternoon in Kelso, leaving the vehicle partially hanging over the barrier, with the  Comfort Inn & Suites below.

The crash in the right lane was cleared as of 2:30 p.m., according to Washington State Department of Transportation, while crews continued to work on removing the truck, driven by a moving company, from the barrier.

The road that runs parallel to the Coweeman River underneath the barrier, Manasco Drive, was blocked as of 2:40 p.m. while tow trucks removed the vehicle.

The driver hit a guardrail at about 1:15 p.m., according to Washington State Patrol, and landed on a jersey barrier. The driver was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, state patrol reports.
