Letter: Support for Trump is off the wall

When I read the letters to the editor in The Columbian and find off-the-wall statements, I look down to see who has written them and lo and behold Roy Schimelphenig is the author. I then stop reading them.

But his latest letter (“Trump will fight for us,” Our Readers’ Views, July 30) is so off the wall I just had to write in. He is the only president that did not graciously accept his defeat like the previous presidents did. He admits he wants to be a dictator. He is tactless and crude. I think he is a graduate of the Mean Girl University.

Maybe Roy doesn’t know this is an opinion page and thinks it’s a satirical one. They say history repeats itself. If you read what led up to World War II, you’ll note that Hitler was imprisoned for crimes before he was elected to rule over Germany and we all know what happened then.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
