The Port of Vancouver secured a $100,000 electric vehicle charging grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce, the port announced Thursday.

The grant will help fund 10 level-two chargers. Upon completion, the upgrade will offer 20 plugs for electric vehicles.

“Getting this grant is welcome news as we continue to electrify the vehicles used here at the Port of Vancouver USA,” said Julianna Marler, the port’s CEO. “Movement of cargo and support of tenant businesses require our workers to have convenient access to vehicle charging wherever they are within the port. We’re grateful for the funds to help meet this improvement laid out by our Climate Action Plan that will contribute to cleaner air for our neighborhoods.”
