LONGVIEW — Longview has opened applications to support park projects through its Neighborhood Park Grants program.

Applications are due March 8 to the Longview Parks Department for a portion of the $25,000 available each year to help other organizations and clubs improve the city park system. The funds are intended to match with other funding sources or in-kind materials to develop new recreation options and build or repair park sections.

Three projects received park grants last year: $15,234 for a new playground and swing set at Bailey Park, $4,666 for Central Sandlot Baseball to repair the dugout screens at Archie Anderson Park, and $3,956 for the Altrusa Club to build a bird blind.

All projects will be reviewed by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and given final approval by the Longview City Council. For additional information, call Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Wills at 360-442-5400.
