Prep basketball roundup: King’s Way Christian and Castle Rock girls eliminated at 1A district

The King’s Way Christian and Castle Rock girls basketball teams had their seasons come to an end with losses in the 1A district tournament on Thursday at Montesano High School.

King’s Way Christian, the No. 2 team out of the Trico League, was eliminated by Eatonville 50-32.

Castle Rock (9-14), which was third in the Trico, followed with a 42-34 loss to Elma.

King’s Way (11-10) was shut out in the first quarter 11-0, but was able to finish the game strong with a 19-13 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Avery Tindol led the Knights in scoring with 12 points Hannah Erwin had nine points, and Bridget Quinn had seven points and seven rebounds.

Eatonville (14-5), which will play Elma (9-11) for the final state berth on Saturday, was led by Bailey Andersen’s 18 points.

Boys basketball

3A BI-DISTRICT: NORTH THURSTON 87, KELSO 61 — The Hilanders finished third in the tournament with a state berth despite the loss in the semifinal at Mt. Tahoma High School.

Kelso (16-6) awaits its regional round of state matchup, which will be announced Sunday.

North Thurston (20-3) will face Auburn (22-1) for the championship on Saturday.

1B DISTRICT: COLUMBIA ADVENTIST 52, WILLAPA VALLEY 44 — After losing twice in the regular season to Willapa Valley, the third time was the charm for the Kodiaks of Battle Ground as their victory clinched a berth to state.

Columbia Adventist (15-8) had previously lost to Willapa Valley (12-13) on Dec. 5 by six points, 48-42, and on Jan. 11 by five points, 57-52.
