In a new series of six slim books for kids, Clark County author Stephanie Feldstein explores the industrial-scale, systemic sources of our personal, daily environmental impacts.

“As individuals we only see what’s around us. It’s hard to grasp the big picture,” she said. “Whether it’s the food we eat, the energy we use, the pets we keep — what happens when our individual impact is multiplied by billions?”

Matching that daunting sense of scale with hope, purpose and hands-on suggestions is Feldstein’s mission in “Planet Human,” a series of plainspoken, thought-provoking volumes about environmental issues aimed at fourth- through seventh-graders....
