Washington State Parks is hiring park and senior park aides, more

TACOMA—Washington State Parks is currently recruiting seasonal park aides and senior park aides to work in some of the state’s 140 parks. Other job opportunities range from park ranger to positions in construction and maintenance.

All full-time positions offer medical insurance, possible eligibility for student loan forgiveness, sick leave, paid holidays, and vacation leave. Temporary positions with Washington State Parks are also eligible for certain benefits such as vacation, sick leave and holiday pay.

  • Park Aides

Type: Full time, nonpermanent

Where: San Juan area, Coulee Corridor area, Salish Foothills area, Millersylvania area, Whatcom bay area, Okanogan highlands area, Central Cascades area, Northern Shores area, Deception Pass, Long Beach area, Cascade Foothills area, Inland NW area, South Sound area, Central Whidbey area , Blue Mountain area, East Columbia Gorge area

Salary: $16.90 — $20.33, hourly

Description: Park Aides perform a variety of tasks at a state park, beach, or historical area. A typical work day may include anything from registering campers and collecting camp fees, to cleaning facilities, mowing lawns, or explaining park rules.

  • Senior Park Aides

Type: Full time, nonpermanent

Location: Statewide

Salary: $19.40 — $23.40 Hourly

Description: Senior Park Aides perform a variety of tasks at a State park, beach, or historical area. A typical work day may include anything from registering campers and collecting camp fees, to cleaning facilities, performing grounds maintenance and minor repairs on roads, trails, and campgrounds, but the specific duties will have some variation by park location.

Type: Full time

Location: Grayland

Salary: $69,072.00 — $80,112.00 Annually

Deadline: Feb. 1, 2024 at 5 p.m.

Description: Assists in the operation of South Beach Area Parks by leading, directing and supervising the construction, maintenance, repair and operational development of the park areas, facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. The supervisor also provides guidance, coordination, and supervision of the trades and maintenance staff who perform maintenance duties on buildings, utility systems, roads, trails, and equipment resulting in the public having safe and functional facilities.

  • Administrative Assistant

Type: Full-time

Location: Tumwater

Salary: $3,145 — $4,174, monthly

Deadline: Jan. 30, 2024 at 5 p.m.

Description: Provides administrative assistance including support and oversight of daily administrative operations to the Visitor Protection and Law Enforcement program in direct support of the program manager and program specialist.

  • Park Ranger 1

Type: Full-time, permanent and seasonal

Location: Statewide

Salary: $46,596 — $62,568, annually

Deadline: Feb. 5, 2024 at 11:55 p.m.

Description: The Park Ranger 1 is entrusted to perform a wide range of duties such being stewards, advisors, hosts, managers, caretakers and is also responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the park.
