Girls basketball roundup: Mountain View clinches postseason berth

Jadlyn Senderson hit three 3-pointers and Layla Senderson added two more during a decisive third quarter as the Mountain View girls basketball team clinched a postseason berth with a 62-38 win over Prairie in a 3A Greater St. Helens League game Wednesday.

Camaria Brown’s basket gave Mountain View a 24-22 halftime lead after a tight first half.

Layla Senderson opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer, then Jadlyn Senderson followed with another to push the Thunder’s lead to 30-22.

Jadlyn Senderson capped the third quarter with a 3-pointer to put Mountain View up 49-30.

Jadlyn Senderson finished with 13 points, while Layla Senderson had 12. Brown and Nina Peterson added 11 each for Mountain View (14-3, 5-1 3A GSHL).

Emma Smith had 15 points to lead Prairie (5-8, 2-4), which faces two must-win games next week against Heritage and Evergreen.

UNION 58, HERITAGE 28 — Brooklynn Haywood scored 25 points as the Titans took down visiting Heritage in the non-league game.

Ava Smith scored 13 points and Rowyn Riley added 10 for Union (13-2).

SETON CATHOLIC 49, LA CENTER 27 — The Cougars stayed perfect in 1A Trico League play with the win at La Center.

Alyssa Mancuso had 11 points and Hailey Hammerstrom 10 for Seton Catholic (11-4, 5-0), which held La Center to 14 points through three quarters.

Adyson Maddock scored 10 points for the Wildcats (6-10, 1-5).

STEVENSON 44, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 28 — The host Bulldogs held King’s Way to single-digit scoring in all four quarters to win the 1A Trico League matchup.

Stevenson’s Dani Wallace scored 18 points to lead all scorers as the Bulldogs (6-3, 3-1 Trico) moved into second place. Aria Obias added 10 points.

King’s Way (10-5, 4-2) was led in scoring by Hannah Erwin’s 11 points.
