Ridgefield Raptors score season-high 16 runs, sweep Cowlitz

Iverson, Mills homer as Raptors win third in a row

Luke Iverson’s three-run home run highlighted a 10-run third inning as the Ridgefield Raptors beat Cowlitz 16-8 on Sunday to sweep a three-game series at Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation complex.

Brody Mills also homered, hitting a two-run shot in the sixth inning.

Julian Nunez went 3 for 3 with two doubles as the Raptors pounded 13 hits and took advantage of five Cowlitz errors.

The 16 runs are a single-game high for Ridgefield, which improved to 13-16 overall and 3-0 in the second half of the West Coast League season.

Iverson, a catcher from Utah Valley, went 2 for 2 and drove in five runs. He went 4 for 7 with eight RBI in the series.

Carson Revay, (Fresno State), pitched five solid innings. The Ridgefield starter allowed four hits, two walks and struck out six, leaving with a 14-2 lead.

Raptors leadoff hitter Taylor Takata went 2 for 3 with three runs. He raised his batting average to .299 and has hit safely in six of his last seven games.

Ridgefield continues a seven-game homestand Tuesday with the first of three games against Walla Walla.
