Letter: Support Perez for Congress

Received our copy of the Clark County Voters’ Pamphlet and was surprised to make a comparison of the statements between Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Joe Kent.

Rather than state his qualifications, beliefs and values alone, Joe made numerous comments about Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. Some of his comments were incorrect, like the one about Perez supporting tolls. In her statement, she points out that she is “bringing our tax dollars home” by putting pressure on the government to use our taxes to replace the bridge, rather than have us “pay it in tolls.” No doubt some of that pressure worked, as Washington received a federal gift of $1.499 billion to help rebuild the bridge.

Others, including Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, also worked along with Perez to let the need be known. Marie works across the aisle and is a valuable politician in our community. Kent’s statements are aggressively angry and sadly disappointing. He is not coming across as a person who is willing to work across the aisle, for the good of our country in these troubled times.

We need Marie to change the system in a meaningful and lasting way for the good of all. Vote Perez.
