Letter: Protect Climate Commitment Act

Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, if you want to fight climate change, do like California: Adopt a cap-and-trade program and an EV mandate. Ten years later, we did. Our Climate Commitment Act is a cap-and-invest program.
Our Climate Commitment Act is raising millions to invest in clean energy projects, and those dollars are already at work.
Benefits in Clark County: Free transit, rail and ferries for youth; six street upgrades to allow kids to walk or bike safely to school; one school heating efficiency project; two projects for fish passage; one grant for a tribe; seven air quality monitoring projects; 27 electric vehicle charging stations.
Benefits statewide: Electric ferries; electric heat pumps; electric heat pump water heaters; solar panels; transit upgrades; electric school buses.
Those investments will save us money in the long run and help protect our children’s future. Those investments will continue if we vote no on the initiative that repeals the Climate Commitment Act (I-2117).
