Prep highlights: Hockinson softball walks off Centralia

Tahlinna Kerr’s second double of the game drove in the winning run with two outs in the seventh as Hockinson softball edged Centralia 8-7 on Wednesday.

Charlie Varney scored on the play after she singled the previous at bat.

Kerr also doubled in two runs in Hockinson’s four-run first inning. She went 2 for 4 with three RBI along with pitching seven innings.

Varney, Gracie Garden and Annabelle Morris also had two hits each as the host Hawks bounced back from a season-opening loss to Camas.

Stars of the day

Softball

  • Candice Adams, Battle Ground softball, went 4 for 4 with a double and three RBI in an 8-1 win over Heritage.
  • Addie Clark, King’s Way Christian softball, went 3 for 4 with a triple, double, three runs scored and three RBI in a 19-9 loss to Toutle Lake.
  • Samantha Groesbeck, Skyview softball, went 3 for 3 with a home run, double and five RBI in a 15-5 win over Mountain View.
  • Sophia Chambers, Camas softball, went 2 for 2 with two doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base in a 7-5 win over Kelso.
  • McKinley Ermshar, Union softball, allowed three hits and struck out 12 over six innings in an 11-1 win over Prairie. She also went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI.
  • Mckenzie Bowling, Ridgefield softball, went 4 for 5 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI in a 13-9 win over Evergreen.
  • Kadence Burleson, Evergreen softball, homered twice and drove in four runs in a 13-9 loss to Ridgefield.

Baseball

  • Dom Vigue, Prairie baseball, went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base in a 5-4 win over Union.
  • Diego Trujillo, Camas baseball, doubled, scored two runs and had two RBI in a 7-5 win over Hockinson. He also struck out five over four innings pitched.
  • Lono Williams and Gavin Poffenroth, Skyview baseball, combined on a four-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over Columbia River.
  • Austen Woody, Woodland baseball, went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, six RBI and three runs scored in a 16-7 win over Heritage.

Girls golf

  • Maddy Moore, Prairie girls golf, scored a team-high 25 points in a 55-48 Stableford win over Union at Camas Meadows.
