Prep highlights: Battle Ground softball bashes eight home runs

The power parade came early and often for Battle Ground softball on Wednesday.

The Tigers slugged eight home runs by seven different players in a 15-3 home win over Evergreen.

Brooke Rausch, Candice Torgerson, Candice Adams, Delyla Gruenberg and Hailey Ferguson all homered in Battle Ground’s eight-run first inning.

Zoey Hughes added a home run in the second inning before Ferguson clubbed her second homer in the third.

Seyah Lindersmith capped her three-hit day with a home run in the fourth inning.

Battle Ground improved to 5-1 with the win and has scored 31 runs over the past two games.

Stars of the day

  • Zayne Boyes, Columbia River baseball, went 2 for 4 with four RBI and a double in a 10-0 win over R.A. Long.
  • Wyatt Hemmelman, Ridgefield baseball, had 13 strikeouts and no hits allowed over six innings in an 8-0 win over Fort Vancouver. Landon DeBeaumont pitched the seventh to complete the combined no-hitter.
  • Chanz Flores, Hudson’s Bay baseball, pitched a complete game allowing two hits, walking none and striking out eight in an 8-0 win over Hockinson.
  • Austin Lindquist, Mark Morris baseball, allowed two hits and struck out eight over five innings in a 10-3 win over Washougal. He also went 2 for 4 with three RBI.
  • Jackson Hotchkiss, Battle Ground baseball, went 3 for 5 with a three-run home run and four RBI in a 10-1 win over Beaverton, Ore.
  • Kayla Scholl, Prairie softball, went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, three runs scored and two RBI in a 10-6 loss to Yelm.
  • Niah Cassidy, Union softball, went 3 for 3 with a double, three RBI and a stolen base in a 4-1 win over Mountain View.
  • Gabi Silveria, Woodland softball, went 3 for 5 with two home runs and six RBI in a 10-3 win over La Center.
  • Elizabeth Peery, Ridgefield softball, knocked in the go-ahead run with a double in the sixth inning, and also had five strikeouts pitching in the Spudders’ 2-1 2A GSHL win over Mark Morris.
  • Leila Samuels, Hudson’s Bay softball, hit the game-winning walkoff sacrifice fly to score Lola Flannery, capping a four-run seventh inning as the Eagles rallied to beat Hockinson 8-7.
  • Chase McGee, Camas boys track and field, cleared 15 feet in the pole vault at a dual meet against Central Catholic. That’s the second-best mark in the state.
  • Devyn Thomas, Heritage boys soccer, scored two goals in the Timberwolves’ 3-0 win against Battle Ground.
  • Diego Bejar, Evergreen boys soccer, scored two goals and had an assist in the Plainsmen’s 4-2 3A GSHL win over Mountain View.
