Letter: Battery leaf blowers not efficient

Regarding a ban on leaf blowers: I try to go with the flow on things here, but this is an issue that I must voice my opinion on.

I have purchased battery-powered blowers, lawn mower, hedge trimmers, string trimmer, cordless drills, etc. These things are fine for a quick touch-up on a dry day, without wind. The reality of the area we live in is far different. I’ve had to replace three batteries already from the slightest sprinkle of rain. Another fun fact is that running out of battery power three-quarters of the way through a small yard is aggravating.

Not enough people pick up their leaves as it is. Making this job harder than it needs to be is ridiculous. We need to figure out a viable solution before we ban anything. Are lawn mowers included?

What about the drain-clearing rigs that the city will have to use to unclog the street drains? Don’t those drains attach to the main sewer lines? Does anyone in the government ever think ahead? It doesn’t seem like it at all.

I suppose mining the moon is technically more environmentally friendly to the Earth, but only if they use battery-powered rockets to get there.
