Prep highlights: Hudson’s Bay baseball strikes back against Ridgefield

Chanz Flores allowed six hits over seven innings and Hudson’s Bay baseball beat Ridgefield 14-3 on Monday.

Flores struck out eight and also doubled as the visiting Eagles handed the Spudders their first loss in 2A Greater St. Helens League play.

Hudson’s Bay put the game away with nine runs in the seventh innings. The Eagles (4-3, 2-2) avenged a 12-2 loss to Ridgefield on Friday.

Cam Nicklas, Owen Hewett and Ryland Brown each had two hits for Hudson’s Bay.

Jared Gottsch went 2 for 3 with a triple for Ridgefield, which fell to 3-1 in league play.

Stars of the day

  • Makenzie Henthorn, Mark Morris softball, went 2 for 3 with a 3-run home run in a 11-1 win over Hockinson. She also pitched all five innings, striking out 12 while allowing one hit and one walk.
  • Mallory Vancleave, Ridgefield softball, went 4 for 4 with two runs scored, three RBI and a double in a 14-1 win over Woodland. The senior is 11 for 15 over her last four games.
  • Caden Spanier, Skyview baseball, went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two runs scored in a 7-2 win over Garfield.
  • Kadence Burleson, Evergreen softball, went 1 for 2 with a home run in a 8-5 win over Camas.
  • Nate Merritt, Prairie baseball, went 4 for 4 with three runs scored and three RBI in a 11-4 win over Mountain View as the Falcons improved to 4-0 in 3A GSHL play.
  • Diego Bejar, Evergreen boys soccer, scored the Plainsmen’s first two goals in a 4-2 non-league win over Tumwater.
