The Washougal School District’s board of directors named Aaron Hansen the district’s interim superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year.

Current Superintendent Mary Templeton announced last month she will take over as the superintendent in the Lake Stevens School District, located east of Everett. Her last day is June 30.

Hansen has worked in the Washougal School District for 23 years, most recently as the assistant superintendent of human resources and student services for the past five years.

Previously, Hansen worked as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and was the principal of Washougal High School from 2011 to 2019.

He has an undergraduate and master’s degree from Eastern Washington University and a superintendent certificate from Washington State University.

“Washougal is a community that stands out for its strong tradition of supporting education, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to lead in such an amazing environment,” Hansen said in a Wednesday news release.

Hansen’s first day will be July 1.
