Letter: Vote to defend democracy

I watched the vice presidential debate and just finished reading about special counsel Jack Smith’s document (“Filing says Trump ‘resorted to crimes’ after losing 2020 election,” The Columbian, Oct. 3). Even with all the name redactions, it details Trump’s desperate and criminal attempts to steal the 2020 election from the American people and President Joe Biden/VP Kamala Harris. And during the vice presidential debate on Oct. 1, when asked about the 2020 election outcome, JD Vance refused to answer.

I was recently on a train trip and a Canadian couple told me that they felt bad for Americans having to deal with all this Trump chaos. We deserve better. Please vote for democracy.
