The Columbian
Published: December 9, 2009, 12:00am

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas all over Clark County, and that means hitting the road for a tour of the decorated houses. Here is a list of the light displays that have been submitted to The Columbian so far.

If you’d like your house listed, please send us your address, a brief description of the decorations, photos and the dates and times when your house will be on public display. We’ll also need a daytime phone number we can call if we have questions.

Send information to Kim Jarvis by e-mail, kim.jarvis@columbian.com; fax, 360-735-4598; or write, The Columbian, P.O. Box 180, Vancouver, WA 98666. We will print the list several times before Christmas; the final deadline for submissions is Friday.

n Fisher-Mill Plain: Jody Strickland and Jeff Hibdon spent a month putting up thousands of lights with a candy cane theme at 2524 N.E. 176th Ave. There are inflatable decorations, Santa and reindeer, giant candy canes, snowmen, icicle lights all around the house and Santa emerging from the chimney onto the roof. The yard is lit from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through New Year’s Day.

n Pioneer Meadows: The Whitehead family has created a display called “Magical Lights on 63rd Street” at 16304 N.E. 63rd St. There are 40,000 lights set to music at 88.5 FM. The whole show is computer controlled with 256 channels of animation. Highlights include a 20-foot-tall tree with 9,600 lights on it, 10 smaller trees, a Merry Christmas sign and more. Donations will be accepted for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The show runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Jan. 1.

n Riveridge: Randy Peppers and his daughters have worked hard to cover their roof in lights at 11806 S.E. Riveridge Drive, and those are just some of the 15,000 lights on display. Other decorations include Santa and his sleigh, giant candy canes, gifts, reindeer, a snowman and lights on the trees. The lights are on from 5 to 10 p.m. daily.

n Proebstel: Joyce and Swede Livingston have approximately 30,000 lights on their house, yard and trees at 20306 N.E. 68th St., with 7,000 stapled onto the roof and 3,000 of them flashing to Christmas music. Decorations include a nativity scene, statues, blowups and lights in the trees. The couple have been illuminating the way for Santa for years and add something new each year. Their lights are on from 4:30 to 9 p.m. daily through Jan. 1.

n Covington: Stan and Bobbi Kay Kirschenmann are back lighting up their house in a big way at 7207 N.E. 92nd Ave. After scaling back last year, the couple have gone all out and created a display they are calling “A Country Christmas.” Decorations include a handcrafted full-size horse and sleigh, a Nativity and more than 25,000 lights. The lights are on from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Jan. 1.

n Woodland: Jeff Flanagan’s laptop is in charge of his light display set to music at 246 Misty Drive in Woodland. The computer controls 64 channels and 12,000 lights that can fade on and off. There’s a 20-foot tree with 4,200 lights on it, outdoor speakers so visitors can hear the music, as well as music piped through 106.9 FM. The show lasts for three songs and starts on the half-hour from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through New Year’s Day. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Woodland High School girls soccer team, which may be on hand with cocoa on the weekends.
