Motorists should expect delays of as much as 20 minutes on the Cougar Creek Bridge along Northeast Washougal River Road, beginning Aug. 16.

Workers will replace pier caps and a portion of the deck planks on the bridge, located at Milepost 5.16. Alternative routes include Southeast Vernon Road in Clark County or Cougar Creek and Salmon Falls roads in Skamania County.

The bridge will remain open to one lane of traffic during repairs, with steel plates placed over the road deck after work hours to keep two lanes open overnight. Work should be finished within two weeks, according to the Clark County Public Works Department.
