OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — Clackamas County commissioners plan to appoint a special committee to review employment practices at the sheriff’s office and recommend ways to address personnel problems.

The Oregonian reported that commissioners will appoint committee members on Sept. 9 after Chairwoman Lynn Peterson announced the plan earlier this month.

The committee will evaluate the recruitment, hiring, training, discipline and termination of sheriff’s office employees and recommend changes to the board.

In recent years, Clackamas County deputies have been convicted of a variety of crimes, including robbery, official misconduct and sexual improprieties.

The county also faces a million-dollar lawsuit filed by victims of Sgt. Jeffrey Grahn, who killed his wife and two others before committing suicide this year.

Sheriff Craig Roberts told the board Monday that he fully supports the review.
