ATLANTA (AP) — Jihad Ali rebounded a missed shot and made a layup as time expired to lift Georgia State to a 64-63 victory over James Madison in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams Saturday.

Brandon McGee scored 15 points to lead the Panthers (3-3), who snapped the Dukes’ six-game winning streak.

After Devon Moore made 1 of 2 free throws to put James Madison ahead by one, Georgia State inbounded the ball with 2.7 seconds remaining.

Harold Doby found Marques Johnson, who had a good look from the wing, but the Dukes’ Andrey Semenov deflected the shot. Ali grabbed the rebound under the basket and laid it in for the win.

The Panthers, coming off two overtime losses, led 32-30 at halftime. Georgia State outshot James Madison in the second half, 50 percent (14 of 28) to 34.5 percent (10 of 29).

Denzel Bowles led the Dukes with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
