Dupree’s 17 points lead Towson over UMBC 86-77

BALTIMORE (AP) — Braxton Dupree scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Towson to an 86-77 victory over winless Maryland-Baltimore County on Saturday night.

Led by Dupree, who got his fourth double-double of the season, the Tigers (3-5) piled up a 42-25 advantage in rebounds in beating the Retrievers (0-8) for the fourth straight time.

After trailing by seven early in the second half, Towson broke the game open in the final four minutes.

Troy Franklin’s 3-pointer gave the Tigers a 69-64 advantage with 3:28 remaining. Moments later, sophomore Isaiah Philmore made a steal near midcourt and drove for a breakaway slam dunk and a 71-64 lead.

Philmore scored 16 points and Franklin added 15 for the Tigers. Rashawn Polk had 11 points and Brian Morris 10 as all five Towson starters reached double figures.

Chris De La Rosa scored 23 points to lead UMBC.
