Prep Roundup: Fitzwilson helps lead Columbia River boys to 93-62 win over Hockinson

Miles Fitzwilson led five Rapids players in double figures with 25 points as the Columbia River boys basketball team improved to 4-0 in the 2A Greater St. Helens League with a 93-62 win at Hockinson on Thursday.

Columbia River (5-1, 4-0) led 45-30 at the half and increased it to 72-50 by the end of the third quarter.

Nico Valdez added 17 points for the Rapids, with Adam Reeder and Aaron Hoey each scoring 14 points, and John Reeder scoring 11.

Hockinson (3-3, 2-2) was led by Ryker Kitchen’s 22 points and 11 from Payton Poppe.

Boys basketball

FORT VANCOUVER 69, LA CENTER 65 — Liam Cvitkovich scoring 19 points and Jayden Parquet 14 as the Trappers held off a fourth-quarter rally by La Center to win the non-league game.

La Center’s Logan Rainey scored 26 points and Austin Nixon 23.

STEVENSON 52, HERITAGE 48 — Kacen Bach had 21 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots as the Bulldogs won the non-league game at Heritage.

Chris Blackledge added 16 points, six rebounds, six steals, and five assists for Stevenson.

Heritage was led in scoring by Jose Zacharias’s 16 points and 13 points from Brooks Greenwald.

Girls basketball

CAMAS 81, SKYVIEW 26 — Fresh off three games in Washington, D.C., Camas was well tuned for its 4A GSHL opener against Skyview.

Riley Sanz scored 22 points with six 3-pointers to lead four Storm players in double figures. Baylie Farra had 13 points, Keirra Thompson 12 and Addison Harris 11.

COLUMBIA RIVER 64, HOCKINSON 19 — After a slow first quarter, Columbia River picked up the pace and rolled to the 2A GSHL victory over visiting Hockinson.

River (3-2, 3-0 2A GSHL) led only 9-4 after the first eight minutes, but then outscored Hockinson (2-4, 1-3)over the second and third quarters 50-13.

Marley Myers led three River players in double figures with 13 points. Kaya Mirtich had 12 points and Gracie Glavin added 10.

Hockinson’s Siena Brown scored 10 points.

RIDGEFIELD 58, WASHOUGAL 28 — The Spudders held visiting Washougal to single-digit scoring in all four quarters to put away the 2A GSHL contest.

Elizabeth Swift scored 14 points and Morgan Goode 10 as league-leading Ridgefield (7-0, 4-0) received contributions up and down the lineup.

Lucy Albaugh and Ireland Albaugh each scored seven points for Washougal.

MARK MORRIS 51, WOODLAND 38 — The Mark Morris offense came to life in the third quarter after being down 22-20 at halftime and pulled away for the 2A GSHL win.

“Came and played one of our most complete games so far this season,” Mark Morris coach Sean Atkins said. “Seven different players contributed in the scoring column to show how well rounded of a game we played.”

Mark Morris was led by Reese Johnston’s 17 points, seven steals and five rebounds. Natalie Mejia’s added 10 points, and Kea Makaiwi had nine rebounds, four assists and three points.

Woodland’s Kennedy Bockert led all scorers with 18 points.

WESTSIDE CHRISTIAN 38, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 26 — Host Westside Christian of Tigard, Ore., pulled away in the second half for the win over King’s Way in the first game of the Queens of the Court tournament.

Addison Bagley had a double-double for King’s Way with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Marantha Fusco and Bridget Quinn each had nine rebounds.
