Alexis Gleason scored 23 points and Deborah Simmers had 17 to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Clark College women’s basketball team defeated Blue Mountain 81-80 Saturday at Pendleton, Ore.

Clark (2-2) enjoyed a 20-point lead, but it was whittled down to six with about six minutes to play.

Clark coach Nancy Boone said she solid defense shut down Blue Mountain’s top scorer as the Penguins held on to the win.

Lacy Kruse added 16 points, and Haley Smith had 10 for Clark.

The Penguins return east next weekend with the Treasure Valley crossover at Ontario, Ore.
