Prep roundup: Bay boys win at North Marion Tournament

All of the Hudson’s Bay Eagles scored Monday in a 32-point victory over Hidden Valley of Oregon in the North Marion boys basketball tournament.

Derrick Brooks led the charge with 16 points. Darius Goldman added 10 points in a 68-36 win.

Bay will take on Yamhill-Carlton in a semifinal game at 6:15 p.m. today.

Columbia River lost its first-round game in the tournament to Roosevelt of Portland 64-61. The Chieftains will face Molalla at 1:30 p.m. today in a fifth-place semifinal.

Mark Morris 75, Fort Vancouver 60 — Zach Tackwell’s 17 points led four Monarchs in double figures in the victory at Fort Vancouver.

Trailing by three at the half, the Trappers were outscored by 11 points in the third quarter.

Mark Kiryushchenkov led Fort with 14 points. Mario Eyler added 13.

King’s Way 62, St. Paul, Ore., 52 — King’s Way Christian jumped out to a big first-half lead, then held it in a victory in the St. Paul tournament.

Matt Johnson had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the way. Jay Becker added 10 points, seven assists, and seven steals for King’s Way.

C.S. Lewis 51, Seton Catholic 42 — D.K. Lee scored 10 points and Seton Catholic had a strong second half, but not enough to overcome the team from Newberg, Ore.

Girls basketball

Camas 52, Ridgefield 27 — Melissa Williams had another strong all-around performance, leading the Papermakers to a win in the Battle Ground tournament.

Williams scored 16 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and also had four steals and three blocked shots.

Kat DeVera had six points and four assists in a balanced Camas attack.

Battle Ground 63, Columbia River 33 — The Tigers improved to 7-0 this season with an easy win in their own tournament.

Nikki Bond scored 15, Tessa Vanderpool added 12, and Haley Hamilton and Haley Grossman each scored 10 points.

Lauren Heller led River with 10 points.

Battle Ground will take on Camas in the tourney’s title game tonight. Columbia River will face Ridgefield in the third-place game.

Aloha 62, Hudson’s Bay 38 — Ashley Pipkins scored 13 points as Hudson’s Bay lost in the first round of the South Salem Winter Classic. Bay will play Reynolds in a fifth-place semifinal at 1:30 p.m. today.

La Center 49, Washougal 39 — Marissa Moore led three Wildcats in double figure scoring with 17 in the victory.

Katrina Chamberlain had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Kiley Monson added 10 points. Annie Baker contributed six points and nine rebounds for La Center. Washougal made two two-pointers and nine 3-pointers. Kendall Utter and Lauryl Ault each had eight points to lead the Panthers.

Stevenson 51, Lyle 21 — Jen Rathgeber and Haley Ulery outscored their opponents on their own, leading the Bulldogs to their second win of the year.

Rathgeber totalled 15 points, and Ulery had 12 in the win.
