King’s Way boys get first state win

YAKIMA — Christian Bukant led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points to lead the King’s Way Christian boys basketball team to a 54-50 win over Trout Lake-Glenwood in a consolation round game Thursday at the Class 1B state tournament.

Trout Lake-Glenwood led 13-8 after the first quarter and pushed its lead to nine points in the second before King’s Way rallied.

King’s Way took control of the game with a 9-2 run late in the third quarter to take a 42-34 lead.

Sean Peterson had nine points and seven rebounds for the Knights (10-13), and Trini Johnson also scored nine points.

King’s Way will play Lake Quinualt in a consolation semifinal game at 11 a.m. Friday.
