Vancouver — Chevron proposes to remove 2,300 cubic yards of petroleum-contaminated soil at its former Tower Mall station, at the intersection of Mill Plain and MacArthur boulevards.

The property’s previous owner, California-based Chevron USA Inc., has applied to carry out the project for current owner, Tower Mall Properties of Vancouver. The service station was demolished several years ago and the property is vacant.

Plans call for excavating approximately 1,851 square feet to a depth of about 15 feet, removing and transporting the tainted soil to another location and filling the hole with clean soil, sand and gravel.
