THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) — The fireworks the Corps of Engineers is exploding to scare seagulls at The Dalles Dam also startle nearby residents.
They told KGW-TV the explosions rock their neighborhood and scare pets.
The corps fires screaming and exploding rockets to drive away gulls that feed on juvenile salmon near the dam.
The corps has been using the same tactic for the past six years, but neighbors say this year the blasts are louder than ever.
