Rafter presumed drowned in Deschutes River

THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) — The Wasco sheriff’s office says a rafter who was lost in the upper Deschutes River is presumed to have drowned.

KGW reports (http://bit.ly/o1l3Ob ) five people were thrown into the water when the raft overturned Friday in the White Horse Rapids near North Junction. Four made it to shore.

A 29-year-old man was last seen floating down the river without a life jacket. Searchers have found no sign of the man.
