Firefighters at early morning blaze save Vancouver home

Firefighters stopped a blaze consuming two cars in a driveway from reaching a nearby garage door and residence at a home in the 7400 block of Northeast 161st Place.
There were reports of explosions while firefighters traveled to the home before 5 a.m., said Jim Flaherty, the fire department’s spokesman. A Clark County fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which heavily damaged a Nissan Altima and BMW 325 Coupe. A van in the driveway sustained minimal damage.
There were no injuries reported. Flaherty said it’s unknown how many people live inside the home.
Sheriff calls on public to identify credit card thieves
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying two subjects caught on camera preparing to make a purchase at Walmart with a stolen credit card.
The fraudulent purchase was made Feb. 16 at the retail giant’s store at 221 N.E. 104th Ave.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 877-274-6311.
Authorities investigating forklift accident at port
A woman was seriously hurt Thursday night when she was struck by a forklift at the Port of Vancouver.
The woman was conscious and breathing when Vancouver firefighters reached the scene.
She was transported by American Medical Response and a Vancouver Fire Department medic to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, said Flaherty.
The Vancouver Police Department and Port of Vancouver officials are investigating the incident.
