LEAGUES AT A GLANCE

4A GSHL: Most of the league coaches picked Heritage as the team to beat, with the Timberwolves’ bevy of returning starters. Skyview and Kelso also. Coach Chad Burchett moved from Prairie to Evergreen, hoping reinvigorate the Plainsmen. Mountain View gave its younger players a lot of playing time last season, and the Thunder that experience will lead to more victories. Battle Ground’s roster will consist of just two seniors.

3A GSHL: Camas, Columbia River, Union and Prairie look to make the league highly competitive this spring. River is loaded with seniors, and Camas brings back seven all-league players. Union also brings a solid 1-2 punch in its starting pitching.

2A GSHL: This league is also shaping up to be a tough battle led by Mark Morris, R.A. Long and Hockinson. And Ridgefield also expects to compete for a playoff spot. Washougal’s pitching staff goes six deep and should keep the Panthers close.

TRICO: Castle Rock, Kalama and White Salmon are the preseason favorites, but La Center hopes its experience will keep the Wildcats in the playoff hunt.
