Leagues Overview

4A GSHL: The Kelso Hilanders are the defending state champions. So, yeah, they’re still good. Mountain View is trying to earn a trip to the state tournament for the fourth year in a row. Evergreen has its starting pitching back, as does Heritage and Skyview, which also have first-team all-leaguers returning. One coach said there really is no favorite. Well, Kelso gets the much-earned respect, he said, but it will be quite the battle come district playoff time.

3A GSHL: Oh wow. Yes, this league deserves even another wow. In what might be the strongest 3A league in the state, Union, Prairie, and Columbia River all reached the state tournament last year. All three have their dominating pitchers back for another season. Adding to that scenario, Camas and Hudson’s Bay look to be improved, too. Getting out of this league will be quite the accomplishment. Wow.

2A GSHL: Coaches seem to agree that Woodland, the team that finished third at the 2A state tourney last year, is the front-runner. One coach thinks Washougal could battle for supremacy, as well. Ridgefield, perennially a strong program, is very young.

1A TRICO: La Center has a lot of talent but not much depth. Castle Rock finished second in state last year, losing to another District 4 team, Montesano.
