3A Baseball

Camas vs. Columbia River

When: 1 p.m. today, semifinal; championship game 4 p.m. Saturday

Where: Safeco Field, Seattle.

Game info: It’s an all-Clark County Class 3A state semifinal as Camas makes its first appearance in the state semifinal, while River returns for the first time since 2005. The Papermakers and Chieftains met three times in 3A Greater St. Helens League play with Camas winning all three. Those were River’s only three league losses as Camas and River shared the league title. Columbia River battled through two elimination games in the bi-district tournament to reach state, while Camas won one loser-out game.

3A Boys soccer

Camas vs. Mount Rainier

When: 2 p.m. today, semifinal; championship game 4 p.m. Saturday

Where: Lang Stadium, Lakewood.

Game info: After beating the No. 1-ranked team in the state (Shorecrest) in the quarterfinals, the second-ranked Papermakers face another challenge in third-ranked Mount Rainier of Des Moines. Camas’ defense, which has allowed just three goals all season, will be tested by Mount Rainier’s Darwin Jones, who has scored 37 goals this season. Camas (18-0-1) has outscored opponents 120-3 this season, while Mount Rainier (18-0-2) has outscored its opponents 81-10.

3A Boys, Girls tennis

Class 3A state tournament

When: 8 a.m. today; championship matches set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday

Where: Vancouver Tennis Center.

Event info: Clark County entrants should figure prominently in all four events this week. Union’s Victoria Tam, a state semifinalist last year as a freshman, is back in the girls singles bracket. Union’s Christina Le, a three-time state singles semifinalist, is playing doubles with Megan Carter, who has placed at state in doubles twice in her career. Alex Wallace of Union won the boys singles title at last week’s bi-district tournament, as did Camas boys double team of Triton Pitassi and Andy Tweet.

Class 2A tennis

When: 8 a.m. today and Saturday at Nordstrom Tennis Center, Seattle.

Class 1A/1B/2B track and field

When: 10 a.m. today and 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Eastern Washington University, Cheney.

Class 2A softball

When: Woodland vs. Ellensburg, first-round game, 10 a.m. today at Carlon Park, Selah.
