SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Carter Cook hit two free throws with 6.9 seconds left in double overtime to give South Carolina-Upstate its first victory of the season, 93-91 over North Carolina-Asheville on Monday night.
The Spartans (1-6) led 37-27 at halftime in the first game inside the newly renovated Hodge Center.
The Bulldogs (2-4) opened the second half on a 10-1 run, but S.C.-Upstate countered with its own 10-1 spurt.
UNC Asheville eventually built a 67-61 lead, but the Spartans tied it on Tony Dukes’ 3-pointer to force overtime.
