Organizers are asking for volunteers to turn out the morning of Oct. 9 to help eradicate an infestation of ivy at South Cliff Park.

Volunteers will be needed from 9 a.m. to noon at the park, on the top end of Blandford Canyon in McLoughlin Heights. The park is located at the corner of Umatilla Way and Oregon Drive. Vancouver and Portland parks departments have been combating invasive English ivy.

“When we compare photos from past years’ work in Blandford Canyon, you can see the payoff,” said Teresa Fernandez, volunteer coordinator for Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation.

The South Cliff Neighborhood Association and parks department will provide volunteers a light breakfast, tools and gloves.
