I see plants in the garden stores that look like ones sold in spring. Can I expect them to grow into winter?
Some — such as beets, members of the cabbage family, carrots, onions and greens — will do fine. You shouldn’t be seeing the hot-weather crops such as squash, corn, tomatoes and melons, as they take some real energy from hot sunshine. Get your winter garden in as quickly as possible, and eat well.
