Jack Beall, a Camas High sophomore who plays an attack position for the King’s Way High School boys lacrosse team, was named the US Lacrosse Washington high school player of the week for March 21-27 in the top division of boys lacrosse.

Beall had 22 points in wins over Puyallup and Lake Tapps that week. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Beall had 15 goals and seven assists, along with fielding eight ground balls in those two matches.

The player of the week awards are presented by the Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse and the Washington Stealth.

Beall led the state in assists as a freshman with 42 last season, when he finished 10th in overall scoring. Last summer, Beall was the top scorer for a Lake Oswego, Ore., club that took second at the Under-16 World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England. The players of the week will be honored by the Washington Stealth indoor lacrosse team during their Saturday home match at Everett’s Comcast Arena.

The King’s Way Knights split a pair of home matches last week, losing a non-league battle with Mercer Island on Friday, and beating Lakeside 19-1 on Saturday.

Saturday’s win at Kiggins Bowl improved King’s Way to a Southwest Division best 3-0 in league matches. Koda Robinson had five goals and one assist in that win. Kenton McGuire and Clayton Frank each supplied three goals, Beall, Matt Friesen and Connor Harwood scored two goals apiece, and Jason Klein and Tyler Preston each scored once.

Friday’s match, a 7-5 loss to Mercer Island at Columbia River High School, involved two potential Division I championship contenders. King’s Way led 3-2 at halftime, but Mercer Island took the lead in the third quarter.

Frank scored twice for the Knights, with Klein, Harwood, and McGuire each scoring a goal. Goalie Max Zandtra made 12 saves.

King’s Way (6-2 overall) hosts Bainbridge (5-0) for a league match at 7 p.m. Saturday at Columbia River High School. After that, the Knights play seven of their final eight matches on the road.

Evergreen girls lose — Forest Ridge scored 12 seconds into the game, and the Ravens used a relentless offensive attack to defeat Evergreen Lacrosse Club, 20-2, on March 29 in Bellevue.

Sara Ornelas and Lauren Hurst each had a goal and an assist for ELC, while goalie Casey Bahr had a season-high seven saves after taking over midway through the first half.

The Black Cats return to action on April 14 when they host Ballard in a 7 p.m contest at McKenzie Stadium.
