Try This: Big band, taste of tropics

Concert rock violinist Aaron Meyer will team up with the Vancouver Big Band for a concert.

The artists will perform tunes that span the past 70 years. Vocalist Shirley Nanette will also perform with the musicians.

When: 7 tonight.

The concert is one of many entertainment options available this weekend. Other highlights include a lu`au, several winery tours and a production of C.S. Lewis’ “The Screwtape Letters.”

1. Bringing the tropics to Clark County

The Ke Kukui Foundation presents a lu`au that includes an island-style dinner, silent auction, raffle, performances from the Kaleinani o ke Kukui dancers, singers and musicians.

The artists will offer performances from the islands of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and Tonga.

2. Wine and chocolate — just in time for Valentine’s Day

Several Southwest Washington wineries will present special events and tastings in conjunction with Valentine’s Day.

The wineries will offer tips and education about pairing wines with chocolate.

When: Today and Sunday; most wineries are open noon to 5 p.m., but times vary by winery.

3. C.S. Lewis novel comes to life

Fellowship for the Performing Arts presents an adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon’s point of view.

The production takes place in an inverted moral universe set in an office in hell, where God is called “Enemy” and the devil is “Our Father Below.”

His Abysmal Sublimity Screwtape and his creature-demon secretary are training an apprentice demon on how to entice the mind of a human “patient” toward damnation.

When: 4 and 8 p.m. today.

4. Sandler’s latest arrives in theaters

Adam Sandler returns to the big screen in “Just Go With It,” now in theaters.

Sandler stars as a plastic surgeon who pretends to be married in an effort to pick up women. He meets the woman of his dreams (Brooklyn Decker), but she insists on meeting his soon-to-be-ex.

He enlists his office manager (Jennifer Aniston) to pose as his wife, but one lie turns into another. The lies eventually result in a life-changing trip to Hawaii.

The comedy is rated PG-13.
