Seven schools in Clark County were among 186 public schools named 2010 Washington Achievement Award winners on Tuesday, under an accountability matrix used by the State Board of Education.
All seven are repeat winners from last year, when the matrix was introduced.
Newly recognized this time is Columbia High School in White Salmon, honored for overall excellence.
Student performance was graded in five areas: reading, writing, math and science tests, and extended graduation rates to include high school students who take more than four years to graduate.
Each category was weighed by four indicators: achievement by students from low-income families; achievement by those not from low-income families; achievement measured against peer sub-groups such as disabilities, English language learners, gifted or low-income homes and mobility; and improvement of all students from the previous year.
