Nunnally scores 27 in 86-71 win for Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) — James Nunnally scored 27 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds Wednesday night to lead UC Santa Barbara to an 86-71 victory over Cal State-Fullerton.

Orlando Johnson added 18 points for the Gauchos (14-10, 7-6 Big West), who avenged an earlier loss at Fullerton.

The Titans (9-17, 5-8) were led by Devon Peltier with 19 points. Jer’Vaughn Johnson added 17 and Orane Chin had 16.

Santa Barbara, which led the entire game, jumped on top 14-4 in the early going and had its biggest lead at 40-20 with 4:22 remaining in the first half. The Gauchos shot 56 percent from the field, including 10 of 20 on 3-point attempts, and were credited with 26 assists on their 28 baskets.

Fullerton, which has lost five of its last six games, trailed 45-34 at halftime and pulled within eight points on several occasions in the second half.
