Educational Service District 112, the major support agency for 30 public school districts across Southwest Washington, seeks applicants to fill a vacant slot on its board of directors.

The recent resignation of Bill Baumann, who completed two four-year terms, left an opening on the seven-member panel.

ESD 112 board members are unpaid volunteers who attend monthly meetings held at ESD headquarters in Vancouver.

The District No. 4 position is up for election in January 2012, at which time the applicant may file (board members of all area school districts vote) to complete the remaining two years of a four-year term.

District No. 4 covers the entire Ridgefield school district and a northern portion of the Vancouver school district, mostly outside Vancouver city limits.

Applicants also must be registered to vote, and live north of the border that, roughly described, runs:

From Vancouver Lake east on Northwest 78th Street to Interstate 5; south to the Lewis and Clark Railroad, then east to Northeast Minnehaha St. and St. James Road; then, south to Northeast 52nd Street and stair-stepping east and south to Northeast 47th Street; and finally, south on Northeast 66th Avenue to state Highway 500, then east past the Westfield Vancouver mall to the Evergreen district boundary.

Application packets are available upon request directly from ESD, or from its website (where more boundary details are available): http://www.esd112.org.

Applications must be submitted no later than Feb. 11. Applicant interviews will take place the week of Feb. 21.

Packet requests and any questions on board duties and responsibilities should go to ESD Superintendent Twyla Barnes, at 360-750-7500, ext. 210, or twyla.barnes@esd112.org.
