St. Francis (Pa.) defeats Monmouth 70-54

LORETTO, Pa. (AP) — Umar Shannon scored 15 points to lead four St. Francis (Pa.) players in double figures and the Red Flash snapped an 11-game losing streak in a 70-54 win over Monmouth Thursday night.

The Red Flash (3-13, 1-4 Northeast Conference) were 9 of 14 from 3-point range in the first half (64.3 percent) en route to a 38-19 lead at the break.

Will Felder added 13 points, Jon Taylor chipped in 12 and Chris Johnson had 10 points and seven assists for the Red Flash, who had not won since edging Bucknell 68-67 on Nov. 20.

St. Francis, which had a 39.8-percent shooting average coming in, made 48.3 percent from the field in the first half (14 of 29) against the Hawks (5-12, 1-4).

Mike Myers Keitt paced Monmouth with 18 points. Ed Waite chipped in with 11 points and Marcus Ware had 10 for the Hawks.
