Leverich Park disc golf course gets some TLC

West Minnehaha — Three years ago, disc golf came to Leverich Park, bringing families, Frisbees, fun and ultimately increased foot traffic. On July 1, volunteers from the Vancouver-Clark Disc Golf joined the Vancouver-Clark Parks & Recreation’s AmeriCorps Team in an effort to minimize erosion on the course. The volunteers relocated two of the tee-pads and installed movable basket posts to allow for basket rotation. They also spread more than 50 yards of mulch to mitigate the effects of high foot traffic use.

Steve Carson, long-time disc golfer and founder of Vancouver-Clark Disc Golf, works closely with Parks & Recreation to mobilize other volunteers and raise funds for the course’s maintenance. Carson helped lead volunteers on this project with the help of Nastassja Pace, the Park’s AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator.
