Letter: Reiterate your view on BPA lines

It’s not just the Bonneville Power Administration’s existing right of way where some homes would be as close as 75 feet to the 500 kilovolt power lines. In numerous locations on rural routes, the lines are planned to be just as close to homes. The difference between the two is that one property is owned by BPA and the other is owned by a private homeowner.

In regards to BPA’s existing right of way of routes 9 and 25, BPA owns the land and the rights to build on the land. BPA needs less than nine acres along the edges of forested and agricultural lands. No land will be taken from any neighborhood.

In regards to a new rural corridor, there would be more than 1,300 acres taken, bulldozing through private properties, bisecting and quartering private properties, taking away private property and property rights from the rural landowner.

Tell BPA it’s not OK to take private properties and cut them into pieces. Tell BPA to use their own land. Send in your comments to BPA often. Once is not enough. You can comment to BPA online at http://www.bpa.gov/corporate/i-5-eis/ecomment.cfm.
